Fora

Understanding Spaces, Cultivating Communities and Designing Change

I have recently set up Fora, a design and innovation studio, with Royal College of Art colleague, long-time collaborator and good friend John Makepeace. We bring together a shared belief that meaningful change begins with listening carefully, building trust and working alongside the people closest to an issue.

Fora works across complex services, organisations and communities, combining relational co-design with systemic thinking. Our aim is to help partners understand the spaces they work within, cultivate stronger communities and design practical change. Fora is deliberately small: enabling us to work closely with a limited number of trusted partners each year.

Our current work with Camden Council’s Adult Social Care team explores new approaches to care and support at home. The work has been informed by direct engagement with residents, care workers, providers and others across the care system, using those insights to develop and test more meaningful, connected forms of support.

Collaboration has always sat at the centre of my practice. It therefore makes perfect sense to build Fora with someone I have known, trusted and worked alongside for many years. Working with friends is not separate from the values behind the studio; it is an expression of them — creating the conditions for honesty, generosity and better work together.
