design in service of
award winning design studio with an internationally recognised
track record of creating positive impact in society.
I design safe and enabling environments, where power & freedoms are reclaimed and where people can solve their own problems, create their own change & find the capacity to solve their future challenges, through collaboration and the learning of new skills via my studio & partner initiatives.
Studio initiatives are community led, years in the making and develop into becoming sustainable award winning social enterprises. Partner initiatives are organisation led, months in the making and create real impact in our society.
Both studio & partner initiatives benefit from a community design process, called Collaborative Design. Collaborative Design has been formed & informed by my design background, a history within international development and my personal narrative.
I have so much to learn and share, which is why I hold associate positions at the worlds most prestigious Art & Design Colleges and have the privilege of being the Designer in Residence at InnovationRCA and Head of the Social Impact Lab within The Royal College of Art's MA Service Design programme.
I have been mentoring design students and professionals in the field of Collaborative Design across two decades and have created my own unique and completely free social impact mentoring programme based on my community design approach.
My design practice is a registered community interest company and has been B Corp certified since 2013.
I am a network member of the British Design Council & a fellow of The Royal Society of Arts.
Brighton is home to my headquarters, 'Public Design Studios' a safe & enabling environment where
I provide over 500 hours of pro bono Service Design a year to the local community & beyond.
I live in Brighton & Hove and am a board member of the internationally recognised Brighton Festival.
